- Latvia is the central country of the Baltic states (Estonia,
Latvia and Lithuania) and is situated on the Baltic Sea coast in the north-east of Europe
- Formely a part of the USSR, Latvia gained its
independence in 1990 and since than has expiered rapid development.
- The capital of Latvia is Riga with
a population over 850 thousand (mainly Latvians and Russians).
- Latvia has a well developed
TV industry and a filmmaking history going back some 55 years. Some of the biggest motion pictures of the Soviet era were made here, as well as a number of co-productions with the cinematographers from Finland, Denmark, Norway, France, Italy and Canada in recent years.
- Latvia is young, culturally reach and fast growing country which offers great opportunities for western film and TV productions.

- Latvia has recently signed a special tax break agreement with Canada. We keep working very hard to see more positive changes introduced in order to make Latvia even more attractive for oversees productions.
